The document describes the installation procedure for the JEstr Tuning Datalogger cable. If you don't know what a datalogger cable is then you'll want someone else to install this and can quit reading now!! This installation is pretty simple and should maybe take any where from 5 minutes to 20 minutes depending on your skills and routing of the cable.
Step1: Cable and wire identification
You'll notice in the package you have received a gray cable and the INTERFACE MODULE (black box looking thing). The cable is what we need right now. You'll notice on one end of the cable 4 leads with connectors and the other has a RJ45 (telephone type) connector on it. The four colored leads are what we need right now.

Step 2: Fuse box and ALDL Location
Now that we have our cable all situated we need to figure out where to connect it to the car. To do this you will need to locate the Fuse box and ALDL which are under the dash on the drivers side of the car. The ALDL should have a black rubber cover over it, its attached to the Fuse box. If you have trouble find these look in your service manual or check out VFAQ.com for more info
.
Step 3: Where do these wires go?
We don't know either, just keeping trying until it works!! Just kidding, lets look at what we have here. You should see the following colors:

The ORANGE wire goes to the fuse box for 12v+. You can use any fuse location you would like. As long as it has power when the KEY is ON. The BLUE, GREEN, and GREEN/WHITE wires goto the ALDL. See Diagram Below:

The ALDL is actually attached to the RIGHT side of the Fuse box, you can this in the image above.
Step 4: What's Next?
Once the cable is wired, all that is needed to collect data is to plug the RJ45 end into the Interface Module, and connect the Module to the laptop. When your done datalogging disconnect the Module from the laptop and unplug the cable from it. This will keep the ECM from being in diagnositc mode while the cable is attached to ALDL connector. That's pretty much it except for routing the cable. We suggest running it through the dash and into the glove box. But its up to you. The cable is designed to be left in the car. Unlike another companies cable, unless its plugged into the Interface Module, your ECU will not be in diagnostic mode, nor will you see the Anti Lock light lit. So grab your laptop, Interface Module, and load your desired OBDI Logging Software and have some fun.
